Tips for healthy hair growth?

I am a 40 year old female. I normally cut my hair short because it takes too long to grow. But this time around I am going to try and grow it out. However, for various reasons whether it be a poor diet, a medicine that I take for seizures, lack of vitamins, etc. my hair takes forever to grow out. Don't get me wrong it grows but takes long. Sometimes when I am combing it or blow drying it I see that some hair does fall out, not a lot but it does. I dye my hair about once a month and I wash it at least twice daily. What can I do to make it healthy and for it to grow out faster? Any tips would be great.Tips for healthy hair growth?
The medication can be a contributing factor for your hair not growing as fast. You should not shampoo your hair daily or twice a day. You should shampoo your hair maybe 2-3 times a week. Shampooing it this often is stripping your hair of it's natural oils, making it dry and brittle, which may be why you are losing hair. You didn't mention what your diet is like.

Eat a healthy, well balanced diet, take a multivitamin, drink lots of water. Don't shampoo as often. You can also stimulate hair growth my massaging your scalp.

EDIT: You mentioned coloring your hair once a month. Do you mean color your entire hair or just touch up monthly? If you are coloring your hair monthy, then you are damaging your hair. This is another contributing factor for the hair falling out. If this is the case, you should stop coloring your hair and do protein treatments in your hair.Tips for healthy hair growth?
well, i don't know if you use any heat tools, but when you use one such as an iron or blow dryer, it stunts the growth of your hair.

hope this helps? haha
Well for one try using Mane N' Tail Horse Shampoo. I use it all the

time and it makes your hair grow faster. I;d say massage it into

your scalp b/c thats going to help the roots if you just put it on

the ends, it not going to do anything to it. You can find it at

walmart in the pet section. also you should drink plenty of water

to condition your hair and when shampooing and conditioning you should

use cold or luke warm water on your hair so it won't damage it.

Even hot water hurts your hair.

There are a couple of things I would recommend.

First, supplement your diet (assuming your physician OKs) with hair nutrition vitamins. Often, slow growth is due to a lack of vitamins, minerals or amino acids. These vitamins can maintain the nutrition need to maximize growth (biotin, vitamin b-12, d, etc) You may be short on these either due to diet or medication.

You might also try a growth shampoo that has mild surfactants that will help clean dirt, oil, and bacteria. Awaken %26amp; Replenish shampoo and conditioner work very well for women and men. Loss, thinning or slowed growth can be the result of several things - stress, DHT accumulation, fungus build-up, or a poor reaction to your current hair products. Awaken %26amp; Replenish are both formulated with Trichogen, a botanical extract alternative to Minoxidil.

Finally, I would avoid chemical treatments for a while. Perms, coloring, straightening, etc. can be pretty harsh on the hair and scalp as well...also try air drying with a wide-toothed comb periodically and blow dry on lower heat settings.

Good Luck!
